Job description
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Synapse Analytics, you will own the technical success of our product deployments inside banking and enterprise client environments. You will work directly with client IT, infrastructure, security, data, and business teams to design deployment architectures, build integrations, document APIs, create client-specific technical artifacts, and manage the lifecycle of deployed environments.
This role sits at the intersection of product engineering, delivery, infrastructure, and customer solutions. You will not only deploy Synapse products; you will engineer the bridge between Synapse’s AI products and the real-world systems used by banks and enterprise clients.
Responsibilities
Own the technical implementation and lifecycle of Synapse products in client environments, especially banks, on-premise environments, and restricted or air-gapped infrastructure.
Design client-specific deployment architectures, including network topology, security requirements, integration points, data flow, API exposure, and operational ownership.
Create and maintain technical artifacts for client deployments, including:
API documentation
architecture diagrams
integration guides
deployment runbooks
environment handover documents
update and rollback procedures
Build and maintain client-specific integration components where needed, including adapters, connectors, scripts, APIs, and workflow bridges between Synapse products and client systems.
Support integrations with enterprise banking infrastructure such as:
core banking systems
internal APIs
data warehouses
Kafka or other messaging systems
Oracle / SQL Server databases
legacy systems
identity and access systems
Lead deployment and orchestration of Synapse Analytics’ applications on client infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, and related tooling.
Manage updates, upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and rollout plans for client-specific environments after go-live.
Troubleshoot complex client-side technical issues involving networking, firewalls, VPNs, proxies, load balancers, certificates, authentication, encryption, and restricted enterprise environments.
Work closely with Product Engineering, DevOps, and Delivery teams to ensure Synapse Analytics’ products are deployable, supportable, secure, and well-integrated in client environments.
Identify repeated client-specific integration or deployment patterns and convert them into reusable product, platform, or delivery improvements.
Participate in technical discovery with Delivery teams to assess feasibility, implementation complexity, risks, and required client infrastructure before commitments are made.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and help standardize deployment, integration, documentation, and support practices.
Participate in an on-call or escalation rotation for critical client-facing production environments, according to agreed support boundaries and SLAs.
Job requirements
2–4 years of experience in forward deployed engineering, systems integration, solutions engineering, DevOps, backend engineering, or technical implementation for enterprise clients.
Strong hands-on experience with Python and building or integrating APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or similar.
Strong experience deploying and operating applications using Kubernetes, and Linux in enterprise or restricted environments.
Experience with on-premise, private cloud, air-gapped, or client-managed infrastructure.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, VPNs, proxies, load balancers, DNS, TLS/SSL, and certificate management.
Experience integrating with external enterprise systems such as REST/SOAP APIs, Oracle, SQL Server, message queues, ERPs, CRMs, or internal banking systems.
Ability to create clear technical documentation, including API docs, deployment guides, architecture diagrams, integration flows, and operational runbooks.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to solve ambiguous technical problems under pressure in client environments.
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with client IT, security, infrastructure, data, and business teams.
Willingness to visit client sites and lead technical workshops, deployment sessions, integration discussions, and production support escalations.
